William "Bill" Cress Obituary

William (Bill) Henry Cress, 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep April 7, 2024 in Emmett, Idaho after a long battle with chronic kidney disease.
Bill was born August 8, 1961 in Emmett to William Henry Cress, Sr., and Frances Jackson Cress. After graduating Emmett High School in 1979, he worked for Western Recycling in Boise, and then Neil Canaday Logging in Emmett.
In March 1990, Bill married Madeline Lombardozzi at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Making Emmett their home, the couple welcomed their first child, Rachel, in 1993. Two years later they welcomed a son, Philip.
In 2000, the Cress family moved to Newark, Delaware, where Bill managed the mechanic’s shop for Allied Bayshore Transportation. In September 2004, their third child, Sarah, joined the family. They resided in Delaware until 2014. Shortly thereafter, Bill and Madeline divorced, though they always remained good friends.
Bill passionately loved the outdoors. He took advantage of every opportunity to camp, fish the rivers and lakes of Idaho, or go deep sea fishing off the coastlines of Delaware and Maryland. He was also an avid hunter of deer and elk, and thoroughly enjoyed cooking and woodworking. In all his adventures, Bill never missed a chance to share a humorous or entertaining story with family and friends.
Bill is survived by his three children, Rachel, Philip, and Sarah; his sister Loraine (David) Burket; two nephews; and his former wife, Madeline Lombardozzi. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Frances Cress; a brother, Jeffrey William; grandparents, William and Sally Cress and Joseph and Elizabeth Jackson.
A Celebration of Life honoring Bill will be held May 25, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Potter Funeral Chapel, Emmett, Idaho. There will be a reception to follow.
