William Fisher, Sr. Obituary

William (Bill) Dee Fisher, Sr., born on November 4, 1949, in Ogden, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 15, 2025 in Happy Valley, Oregon.
The son of Gene and Nettie Fisher, Bill grew up in Emmett, Idaho, alongside his eight brothers and sisters where he cultivated the values of hard work and family.
A proud graduate of Emmett High School, Class of 1968, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Virginia “Ginny” Vahlberg in 1969. Together, they built a life filled with adventure eventually settling in Boring, Oregon, where they raised their two children, Bill, Jr and Jodie Argubright.
Though the couple divorced they remained good friends, parents, and grandparents until his passing.
Bill’s professional career was in medical device sales of which he retired in 2015.
He had a passion for the outdoors, camping, hiking, but was especially fond of fishing.  Whether camping with loved ones in Hells Canyon along the Snake River or enjoying biannual visits to the family property in Arizona, Bill found joy and peace in nature.
Known for his meticulous care of his yard, cars, and motorcycles, Bill also loved tinkering with motors and engines—a skill that he shared with his brothers and made him a trusted resource for neighbors and family alike.
His son-in-law, Jeff Argubright was integral to his happiness and later on, his care. Bill finally got a “quasi-grandson” when his first granddaughter, Merissa, married Danny. Merissa and Bill were extremely close.
Above all else, Bill was devoted to his family. He was the source of some of the “best moments” of any camping trip.
Bill is survived by six of his siblings; his son, Bill Jr. (Sarah); his daughter, Jodie (Jeff), and six granddaughters, and one grandson-in-law; and a large extended family who brought him immense pride and joy.
Bill will be remembered as a fun-loving man who provided humor and fun moments while also embodying strength and guidance for those around him. May his memory bring good stories, fond memories, and love and comfort to all who knew him.
