Obituary

Wanda Clark Limb, age 101, passed away peacefully Sept. 23, 2026, at home in Meridian, Idaho.
Wanda was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, January 3, 1925, to Alma Porter Clark and Lavinia Irene Card Clark, one of ten children. Her early life was in Utah and Wyoming with the last 74 years in Idaho.
Wanda is survived by her sister Geraldine Johnson; her children LaNetta (Garold) Maxfield, Melanie (Bryan) Elkins, Claudia (Ron) Cattron , Clark (Mary Jean) Limb, Lorraine (Neil) Robinson, Rodney (Dixie) Limb, Jeffrey (Julie) Limb; 46 grandchildren; 137 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alma Porter and Lavinia Clark; brothers Michael, Alma, Paul, Dean, Lynn; sisters Joyce Elzinga, Barbara Bassett, Myrna Dutson; husband Ellis D Limb; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Robert Baker, daughter Benita; grandchildren Marvin Baker, Heather Limb; great grandchildren Liam Moline, Jasmine Howell; great-great granddaughter Lillian Young.
Wanda attended school in Wyoming.  She milked cows and helped with other family chores until she graduated early in her senior year of high school. She moved to California so she could help with the war effort in World War II.  Being skilled in office work she typed invoices for damaged submarines. While in California she met Ellis D Limb, a sailor who was in port.  They dated while his ship was being repaired. After he deployed, they corresponded for almost two years.  Ellis got leave from the Navy long enough for them to get married in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Valentine’s Day, 1945. They had been married 56 years when he passed away in 2001.
After Wanda and Ellis had 3 children, they decided that rural life would suit them better than living in a big city in Utah.  They moved their young family to Emmett, Idaho, and lived on a small farm so they could teach their family responsibility.  They had cows, chickens, and occasionally sheep, pigs, and geese, along with a very large garden.  Working hard together provided the family with lots of fresh food.  There was also time for fun, sports, fishing, and family outings.
Being an excellent seamstress, Wanda sewed most of her girls’ dresses (including wedding dresses) and made literally hundreds of quilts to give to family members.  She helped her daughters learn to sew.  She taught cooking to children in 4-H clubs. She was a great example of sacrifice and continual learning.
Wanda owned and ran a clothing store in Emmett.  That helped bring extra income to  help finance 4 of her children on church missions.
Wanda was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She held callings in Relief Society, Primary, Sunday School and choirs. She taught children and adults and held positions of leadership.  She taught early-morning Seminary for 12 years. Hundreds of youth have called her blessed for the lessons she taught through gospel study, example, and testimony.  She served with Ellis in the Boise Temple. She taught and served many years in Family History--even learning new computer programs to do the work.
Wanda and Ellis were called to the Hartford Connecticut Mission and served in Troy, New York. They photographed and preserved public records, helping to facilitate access to information such as records that we use in Family Search.
Wanda always said that her greatest legacy is her posterity.  She has 9 children, 48 grandchildren, 139 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren--with more expected!
