Walter "LaMar" Mouritsen Obituary

  Walter “Lamar” Mouritsen passed away February 21, 2024 at a care facility in Boise, Idaho. He was born 23 October, 1939 in a house at 520 N. Boise Avenue, Emmett, Idaho to Edward Oren Mouritsen and Ardith Campbell Mouritsen.
  He lived in the Emmett Valley until he was 26. Attended Brick School, Hanna School and Emmett High School which is where he graduated with the class of 57’.
  After graduation, Lamar went to work for the Gem Canning Company for 8 years. From there he worked for Norco in Boise for 6 years and made his main career, for 32 years, working as a fireman for the Boise Fire Department. 
  September 13, 1957, he married Mary Rose in Emmett, Idaho, and was later sealed in the Idaho Boise Temple. She passed away in 2000. In 2002, He married Wanda Rae Dill. He met both his wives at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was 11 years old. Of which, he was a life-time member.
  LaMar was blessed with many wonderful friends through his lifetime, such as classmates, firemen, archery, and church friends. He appreciated the closeness throughout the years. He enjoyed hunting and spending the month of September each year at hunting camp since 1976, until he had a stroke and could not go anymore.
   LaMar is survived by his, wife, Wanda Rae, of 22 years this coming May; his children, Marla Jo (Patrick) VanPut of Letha, Idaho, Layne (Tina) of Meridian, Idaho, Jarmin Brown of Meridian, Idaho, and Mindi (Wes) McAllaster of Boise, Idaho; his two step-children, RaDawn (Larry) Lucas of Bend, Oregon, and DeWayne Elsperman of Ontario, Oregon, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Carolyn) Mouritsen of Pocatello, Idaho; sisters, Sharon (Ray) Church of Emmett, Idaho, Verna (Art) Altmiller of Orofino, Idaho, Eva (Scott) Seegmiller of Troy, Idaho, LeRee Maxfield of Emmett, Idaho and Jenifer (Lonnie) Holloway of Emmett, Idaho, Faye Legg and Ralph Mouritsen who have passed. As well as many wonderful nieces and nephews that were very dear to LaMar. He held a special place in his heart for his nephew, Rocky Chase and his family.

  Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (980 West Central Road, Emmett, Idaho 83617) on Wednesday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM.  Viewing will be from 10:00 - 10:50. Graveside services will follow at the Bramwell Cemetery in Emmett, Idaho.
