WILLIAM "BILL" CONRAD Obituary

William Henry Conrad, 99 years old, passed away in Emmett, Idaho on February 6th, 2021.  He was born in the family home on November 5th, 1921 in Emmett, Idaho to Henry and Katherine Conrad.

William, who was known to family and friends as “Bill”, was the youngest of six brothers and sisters and attended Emmett High School where he played football, ran track, and was a Golden Glove boxer.  Before and after school he worked on the family farm, and after high school he continued farming and eventually transitioned from dairy farming to raising beef cattle as a rancher.  Bill married “Geri” in 1943 and their son, Larry, was born in 1947.  Three years later they were blessed with Cheryl, who was born in 1950.  Bill and Geri were active members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Emmett and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in the church’s fellowship hall in 1993.  Bill and Geri loved to square dance, round dance and they enjoyed the chance to travel; both visiting friends and family in the Southwest and in Hawaii.

Bill was a longstanding member of the Kiwanis Club and was Grassman of the Year.  In 2018, Bill was recognized by the Idaho Farm Bureau for his lifetime of service to the local farming community.  Besides being a successful rancher, and serving two terms as county commissioner, Bill was first and foremost a family man who was quick to smile and often teared up when he spoke about his love for his children and grandchildren and his gratefulness to God for the countless blessings in his life.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his older siblings.  His wife, Geri, passed away on January 1st, 1998 and he was preceded in death by his second wife, Dorothy.

Bill is survived by his son, Larry Conrad; daughter, Cheryl Ashurst; grandchildren, Joshua Ashurst, Sara Dunham, Matthew Conrad, Zachary Conrad, and Katelyn Godsey.  Bill’s great grandchildren include, Isaac and Audrey Ashurst, Emery Dunham, Campbell, Cate, and Collin Conrad, and Lauren Kate and Brooklyn Conrad.

Bill will be laid to rest with a private graveside service for family only.  At a later, date during the summer, a memorial service for family and friends will be held with the date and location TBD.

Charitable donations can be offered to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bill’s name.
