Verne “Red” Sheldon Pickrell Jr., 82, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family April 3, 2025. Red was born October 29, 1942, in Santa Rosa, CA, to father, Verne Sheldon Pickrell Sr. (1913-1984) and mother, Pauline Elizabeth Fox (1917-1995). He was the youngest of three.
Red started his working career as a waiter in various restaurants in San Francisco, CA and Las Vegas, NV. As that world changed, he became a TV repairman and ended his working years as a major equipment engineer. Red had a passion for fixing machines and ensuring they ran smoothly. If he didn’t have the part needed or the tool to use, he would make whatever he needed to get the machine fixed and running again. Red spent the better part of 60 years as an engineer and was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Red was preceded in death by his parents and two older sisters, Myrna (1939-1979) and Verna (1938-2021). He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Lora Lee and Laurie Ann; grandchildren, Linda, Hope, Gary, Allison, Kelly; four great grandchildren along with dogs Mr. Binks and Badger.
