Verlene H. Rex passed away in Meridian, ID on May 13, 2021 at the age of 77. She is survived by her husband Richard T. Rex; five children, Kenneth, Kyle, Amber, Kostane, and Kallan; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven brothers and sisters, Gordon Henrie, Lloyd Henrie, Karen Lindsey, LaPriel Christian, Edward Henrie, Connie Hurless, Vaughn Henrie.
Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she dedicated many hours of service in Primary, Young Women’s, Relief Society, and Seminary positions. She compiled family history and served faithfully as a temple ordinance worker in the Boise Temple. She served in the Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years and is an honored recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. She devoted her service in Cub Scouts and helped many young men achieve the rank of Eagle. She was a founding member of the Christmas Creche Festival in Lancaster, CA that ran for over 20 years. She was awarded many ribbons for needle work entered in the Gem County Fair and South Western Idaho State Fair.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 20th at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 8775 Sweet Ola Hwy, Sweet, ID 83670. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 19th from 6 until 8 pm at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett and one hour prior to the services at the Church in Sweet. Burial will be in the Sweet Cemetery.
