Ted Spencer Obituary

Ted Spencer (86) passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Ted was born on June 16, 1936, in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Leon & Lucy (Lyons) Spencer. He was the third of five children having two older brothers and a younger brother and sister.

Ted spent his childhood in Alaska and the Lyons’ family ranch in Idaho. He was hard-working, genuine, and was always there to lend a hand or tool to anyone who needed it. Ted was a friend to everyone and could often be found conversing and sharing stories over morning coffee with long-time friends.

Ted served in the Navy between 1956 and 1960 before beginning his life’s work as a millwright or industrial mechanic at Boise Cascade. He worked at Boise Cascade for nearly 40 years before retiring in 1999.

Ted married the love of his life, Marjorie Butler, on November 25, 1961, in Emmett, Idaho. Together they had three children, Connie, Debbie, and Randy. As a family, they enjoyed making memories in the outdoors especially fishing and camping. Ted took pride in a freshly mowed lawn and raising a prosperous garden which he shared the vegetables of his labor with everyone.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Marjorie, brothers, Ron Spencer, Kenny Spencer and Ray Makinson. He is survived by his sister, Sue (Ken) Stans; children, Connie (Greg) Wilfong, Debbie (Brent) Kimball and Randy (Jodi) Spencer; 6 grandchildren, Jamie (Jonny) Spangle, John (Laura) Wilfong, Mike (Morgan) Kimball, Chris (Larissa) Kimball, Joelle (Drew) Sharkey, and Brad (Madi) Spencer, and 10 (almost 11) great grandchildren—Wyatt, Lincoln, Addison, Hadley, Kelton, Lennon, Banks, Cooper, Daxton, Zella, and Baby Boy Sharkey due in December 2023.

A celebration of Ted's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Willow Grove Event Center.

In lieu of flowers, Ted’s family would appreciate donations be made to The Jayden DeLuca Foundation in Ted’s honor on behalf of his great grandson, Daxton, who was born with congenital heart disease.
