Susan Gai (Rohrbacher) Saxton passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, May 6th at the age of 75. She was born in Caldwell, Idaho, on September 16, 1949, the first child born to Raymond and Zelda Rohrbacher. Her father said she started running at 9 months and never quit. Sisters Lillian and Carolyn were added to the family while they were living in the Parma area. Ray joined the Idaho State Police and moved his young family to Twin Falls area where sister JoAnne joined the family. Ray was promoted and moved his family to Blackfoot in 1957 where twins Joe and Jean and sister Charlene completed the family. Susan became her mom's right hand, helping raise her siblings. She was a baton twirler, queen of one of the high school dances, and was both the president and a district officer in the FHA while in school.
Susan's life changed when the farmer boy next door caught her eye. It didn't take too many dates for them to become very serious. Dennis left on an LDS mission to the southern states Susan's senior year. She graduated from Snake River High School in 1967 and completed her secretary course at Idaho State University. She always had a belief in God and desired to attend church from a young age. Susan and Dennis were constantly writing throughout his mission, and she located missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints while at college and was baptized. Dennis proposed to Susan through the mail, and after he completed his mission in April, they were married on June 24, 1969, and four days later they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.
They went on to raise 8 children, Dennis Jr (Celise), Damon (Christine), Drake (Becci), Stacy (dec. 1992), Shellece Gruber (Sean), Shawnee Church (John), Sheri Church (Jeremiah), and Darius. They now have 36 grand children and 4 great-grand children. Susan and Dennis permanently moved to Emmett, ID in 1979.
Susan was an incredibly selfless person and always took the opportunity to serve others. She could never sit still if someone was in need of help and never said a negative or unkind word about anyone. Her only real hobby was blessing other people's lives. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother (Zelda Riggs Rohrbacher), sister (Charlene Rohrbacher), and daughter, (Stacy Jo Saxton).
