Sherri Kay Griffith

Sherri Kay Griffith, 76, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away on August 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was born September 26, 1949 to William Arthur Dillon Jr. and Velma Marie (Hunt) Dillon in Emmett Idaho. 

Sherri attended Emmett public schools and graduated Emmett High School in 1967. She married the love of her life, Albert Griffith in 1968. Their first child, Shelly Marie, arrived in 1969, followed by their second child, Charles William “Bud,” in 1972. She worked many different jobs throughout her life, including at Gem Market, which was owned by her father. She also spent time in various packing sheds across the Valley of Plenty. Later, she joined Sears Corporation, where she remained until taking an early retirement to care for her husband during his illness. She was known by everyone as a natural caretaker, always stepping in when someone needed help. She also volunteered her time with the Malheur Wool Growers Association and later in life at Pet Adoption League where she developed a devotion toward animals, and she lovingly opened her home to cats who had nowhere else to go, giving each one the care and comfort they deserved. She is remembered most for her gentle spirit, her kindness toward everyone she met, and her deep compassion for animals. To her grandchildren, she was an extraordinary grandmother lovingly known as “Nana.” She made everything fun — from greeny beany races at dinnertime to driving playfully along the “crazy road.” She hosted countless sleepovers, took them swimming at Black Canyon Dam Park, and filled their childhood with memories they will treasure forever. She loved spending time in the mountains, especially camping, and always made room in her day to sit and visit with people. Sharing stories about her family and the history of Emmett brought her joy, and she carried an incredible wealth of knowledge that she readily passed along.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Griffith; parents, Bill and Velma Dillon and sister, Linda May (Dillon) Prawitz.

She is survived by her children, Shelly, Bud (Susan), grandchildren Cody Harrison, Lorea (Dezmon) Branum and Dillon (Abbie) Griffith and great grandchild Ainara Branum.
 
A heartfelt thank you to Hailey at Helping Hand for guiding us through her final days. You treated her — and all of us — with such kindness, compassion, and steady support during an incredibly difficult time, and it meant more than words can express. Our gratitude also extends to Horizon Home Hospice for their gentle care and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held for a later date.
