Sally Wimpy/Evans Obituary

Sally Joan Wimpy/Evans, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away October 14, 2024 in Meridian, ID at the age of 88. Graveside services will be held Friday October 25th at 11:00am at Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth, ID.  A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday October 24th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in New Plymouth, ID.

Sally was born July 21, 1936 in South Gate, CA to Harry and Faith Wright. Her family moved to Idaho 1 day prior to her 11th birthday. Sally loved Idaho from the moment she moved here. She enjoyed dancing, swimming, and being in the outdoors. Sally was married to Jim Wimpy and they enjoyed life and many wonderful adventures together for many years. A couple of years after his passing she married a wonderful man, Richard “Dick” Evans, who brought much joy back into her life. She always wore a CTR ring which Dick always said stood for “Choose the Richard”. She enjoyed taking on the role of stepmother and grandmother to his children and grandchildren. She had a great capacity for love.

Sally had many talents which she generously shared with others. She enjoyed making the signs for the grocery store in New Plymouth and each had her signature of a daisy. Everything she painted had a flower on it. Sally was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints and held numerous Stake and Ward callings. She gave service to many and was a great example to her family. Sally loved her family dearly and was so excited with each new grandchild.

Survivors include her children, Kathy (Ed) Hall of New Plymouth, ID, Cindy (Dan) Whiteley, Emmett, ID, David (Trudy) Wimpy of Logan, UT; her sister Marian Packard of Boise, brother and sister-in-law Fred (Carolyn) of Meridian; 14 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim Wimpy, and her husband Richard Evans. The family would like to give special thanks to The Cottages of Meridian for the wonderful care they rendered to her these last 3 years and to White Oak Hospice for the care given to her at the end of her life.
