Rosemary Reed passed away August 9, 2023, at age 87, surrounded by family, in Vancouver, Washington, where she lived with her oldest daughter for the last 4 years. She was born June 4, 1936, to Leslie E. and Blanche L. Reed in Idaho.
Rosemary grew up in Emmett, Idaho, where she graduated from Emmett High School, and lived many years off and on in Boise, Idaho. She also lived in Oregon (Portland area), Washington state (Seattle area), and briefly in Fairbanks, Alaska. She was married to Benjamin L. McNealy from 1954 to 1970.
Rosemary worked as a legal secretary for about 40 years and was also an artist involved in painting (oils and acrylics), drawing, gourd art, and for a while dabbled in metal sculpture and mosaics. She was a member of the Village Art Gallery in Portland, Oregon for many years starting in the early 1970s.
After her children were grown, Rosemary enjoyed a few travels to Jamaica, Mexico, and England. She also loved art shows, estate sales, and the occasional trip to Jackpot, Nevada. For a few years, she had her own businesses on Etsy and Amazon and strived for 5-star reviews.
Her family remembers her as fiercely loyal to her children and grandchildren over the years. If anyone treated them badly, she sided with family every time.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Helen C. Steele; and a child, Wayne Leslie McNealy. She is survived by her children, Debra Kay McNealy, Mary Lorena ‘Lori’ McNealy, Brian Lee McNealy, and Brent Lamont McNealy (wife Mary); sisters, Evelyn Points and Patricia Wood; 16 grandchildren, as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at the Emmett Cemetery on August 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Services are in the care of the Potter Funeral Chapel of Emmett.
