Ronnie Lee Hartley (he went by Ron because he despised being called Ronnie) passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, with his family by his side. Ron was born on January 17, 1957 in Phoenix Arizona. He was a skilled athlete and had a love for the game of basketball. Ron was an avid Phoenix Suns fan, and even got to work for the team as a ball boy in his teenage years. He made the varsity team early in his high school years, and also made the basketball team at Northern Arizona University. Although his basketball career was short lived, his greatest adventures in life were still yet to come. Ron met Jalene Elizabeth Randall in 1980 and they soon fell in love, eventually marrying on November 21, 1981. Ron and Jalene soon started their family, welcoming their son Jared on February 4, 1983, and their daughter Jenna on March 22, 1984. Their family lived in Mesa, Arizona until 1997, when they made the decision to leave the big city and move to Emmett, Idaho. Ron was in his “heaven” in Idaho, finally unlocking the inner-cowboy that was always inside of him. Ron was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was sealed to his family for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona temple on November 26, 1999.
Ron was a master woodworker, and had a passion for his craft. Ron was best known for cabinet making and received several awards from the Parade of Homes for his quality and beauty of cabinetry. While living in Arizona he took pride in being selected to build cabinets for several pro athletes.
Ron was fun-loving and always loved a good joke. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and never had trouble speaking what was on his mind. To some he may have appeared rough around the edges, but to those who knew him, they knew he had a heart of gold.
Ron is survived by many loving family members, including his wife of 39 years, Jalene; his children and their spouses, Jared and Debbie Hartley, and Jenna and James Nolen; his seven grandchildren; his father Ronald Hartley and sister Vickie Goulette; and his brothers in-law Craig Randall and Randy Randall, with their families. Ron was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Ulrich.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Letha Ward Building, in Letha, Idaho. Viewing will begin at 10:00 am at the Church. The services will also be live streamed via his obituary page at potterchapel.com. Burial will follow at the Bramwell Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett.
