Ronnie was born April 17, 1942, in Emmett, Id, to Harry and Yvonne Phillips. He was the second of three children. He attended Emmett High School and graduated in 1960. In the fall of that year, he married his high school sweetheart Billie Gay Rolph. The two had 56 wonderful years together and in that time had 4 children.
Ronnie was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He retired from Boise Cascade in 2011, after 50 plus years. He was also a well-respected horseshoer in the valley. He would get off work from the plywood plant and then go shoe 2 or 3 head of horses a day to support his team roping habit.
Ronnie and Billie Gay were actively involved in their children's busy lives. Always volunteering to chaperone school dances, leading 4-H groups, rodeo club, sports and many school activities. Ronnie always loved teaching young kids about horses, riding and roping while instilling good moral values.
Ronnie enjoyed team-roping, fishing, camping, hunting, game night with family and friends, bingo on Friday nights at the senior center, scratching lottery tickets, and spending time with his grandkids.
He served many years on the Gem County Fair and Rodeo Board and in 2017 he was given the honor of being Grand Marshall of the Gem County Fair and Rodeo.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife Billie Gay Phillips; his parents, Harry and Yvonne Phillips and his sister Shirley Selvedge. He leaves behind his brother Tom Phillips (Kelley) of Capitan, NM. Ronnie always had a good story or joke to tell. The legacy of his humor and generous nature will be remembered by many.
