Roger Klingback Obituary

Roger Allen Klingback, 79, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away peacefully during the early hours of December 1, 2022. Roger was born in Emmett on May 30, 1943, to Beatrice Orton Klingback and Eldon Klingback. After graduating from Emmett High School in 1961, he went on to the University of Idaho briefly until the call of the education that Idaho’s outdoors would provide became too great to ignore.
Roger continued his family’s legacy by raising cattle, horses, kids, and crops on his family’s homestead ranch outside of Sweet. He also led pack strings of supplies into the wilderness, cleared the Middlefork trail, and fought fire for the US Forest Service for a time, rodeoed as a bareback bronc rider, and was quick to help anyone who needed it. He loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends, especially his brother, Rae. He loved a good cup of coffee — the nearer to a campfire the better — and enjoyed making those around him laugh.
He was the person everyone thinks of when they say “cowboy” — a brilliant problem solver, who never met a baby or a horse he couldn’t win over and did not suffer fools or bad dogs for long.
Roger was married for 52 years to his left-hand man and wife Kennie Lyn and was a father to five - Todd (Nanette) Edmondson-Klingback, Susie (Jay) Stephenson, Dawnita Griffith, Jennifer Klingback, and Tamara (Byron) Dooley. Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Rae, and his parents, Beatrice and Eldon. He is survived by his wife, children, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Roger's life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022 in Sweet at the Sweet Syringa Hall. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to the Sweet Syringa Hall or the Payette River Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship Fund.
