March 5, 1941 – October 17, 2024
It is with both sadness and gratitude for his life, we announce the peaceful passing of Paul Loree on October 17, 2024. Paul was surrounded by family, a fitting end for a man whose life was deeply rooted in love, faith and community. His presence, humor, and strength left an indelible mark on everyone blessed to know him.
Paul was born on March 5, 1941, in Pendleton, Oregon, and spent his early years in Aloha and Reedsport, Oregon before his family settled in Emmett, Idaho, where his father served as pastor of Emmett Baptist Church. Growing up, Paul found joy in the outdoors, exploring the forests and rivers of Idaho, which sparked a lifelong love for fishing, hunting, and hiking. He was active in football during high school, and as he continued his studies at the College of Idaho, he expanded his interests, taking up boxing, playing violin, and guitar, and performing in a small music group. While in college he met the love of his life, Peggy Parrett. They were married August 16, 1963 beginning a partnership that would span 61 years. Together they built a life filled with family, friends, and a legacy of compassion, humility, and devotion. They raised two sons, Mike and Todd, who remember their father as a man who led by example with integrity, faith, and kindness.
After college, Paul embarked on a career in education, working as a teacher and school administrator in Meridian, Fruitland, and Gem County. For nearly four decades he committed himself to shaping young minds and fostering a supportive community. He retired in 1998. He was also skilled with a Dutch oven, teaching cooking classes and leading pack trips into the mountains.
A man of unwavering faith, Paul led by example, speaking at the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, guiding Layman’s Retreats and sharing his musical talents by preaching and playing guitar at the Ola Church. His life was anchored in his love for the Lord, his family, and the world around him.
In 2006, Paul and Peggy moved from Meridian to High Valley fulfilling a lifelong dream of living in the mountains. They actively enjoyed their time there—from snowmobiling and skiing in winter to horseback riding and 4-wheeling in summer.
Paul’s legacy continues in the lives of those he leaves behind: his devoted wife, Peggy; his sons, Mike and Todd; his grandchildren Kevin, Kyle, Abbie, Colton and Yusef; his great-granddaughter, Hannah and the countless friends, students and community members whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Earl. While he is now in Heaven with Jesus, the memory of his strong spirit and gentle heart will live on in the stories and laughter shared by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held November 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Eagle Nazarene Church, 1001 W. State St., Eagle, Idaho 83616. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, hospital staff, and hospice caregivers who supported Paul through his health struggles and to the friends and family for their prayers and love.
in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Pines Church Camp, Ola Ladies Club in Ola, Idaho and Ola Community Church; causes close to Paul's heart.
