Patricia Marie Johnson,78, died peacefully on February 22, 2022, at her home in Emmett after a long battle with cancer. Patricia was born to Zach and Dorothy Hawe on September 28, 1943, in Yakima, Washington and was raised in West Seattle. She attended Holy Rosary School from first grade until she graduated. She attended Gonzaga University where she attained a teaching degree. In her senior year, she met her loving husband, Stephen, who was in the Air Force and stationed in Spokane. They married in 1965.
Patricia started teaching and moved to Idaho. She would spend the next 38 years of her life teaching high school English and later fifth grade. In her fifties, she obtained a master’s degree in Gifted Education from the University of Connecticut. She was instrumental in overseeing the Gifted and Talented Program for the Vallivue School District.
Patty was an avid cyclist and member of the community group, Beta Sigma Phi, for 40 years. She loved to garden, sew and was a devout Catholic who loved her family deeply.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Stephen, of 56 years, a sister, two daughters, three grandsons, two great grandsons and many family and friends who will dearly miss her.
The family would like to thank the St. Alphonsus Cancer Center, Father Oscar and the Emmett community for all their loving support.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, February 28, 2022. Burial will follow at the Emmett Cemetery. Services are in the care of the Potter Funeral Chapel of Emmett.
