Owen Inosia-Salanoa Alafua
September 3, 1979 – February 3, 2025
It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of Owen Inosia-Salanoa Alafua on February 3, 2025, in Letha, Idaho. Born in Torrance, California, Owen brought light, laughter, and boundless compassion to every life he touched.
Owen is survived by and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sela Alafua, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage; his daughter, Amaya Alafua, and son, Inosia Alafua.
Owen was a devoted family man who treasured his loved ones above everything else. Raised in a home brimming with love and laughter, he was deeply supported and loved by his beloved mother and his five devoted sisters, Tauamo Leaupepe, Audrey Mausia, Sonya Lakei, Bernice Alafua, and Wendy Alafua. Owen carried in his heart cherished memories of his dear sister, Sonya Lakei; his dedicated father, Inosia Salanoa Alafua; and his beloved daughter, Adele Alafua, who passed away in infancy. Each held an immeasurable place in his life, enveloping it with love and dedication.
Owen’s career was a testament to his skill and dedication. Studying auto mechanics with a specialty in Toyota systems, he earned his degree and became a Master Mechanic. His expertise led him to serve as the General Manager for Break Master's, and even as his health declined, he continued to work a few hours a week at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts to stay active and engaged. His professionalism, combined with his generous spirit, meant that he often went out of his way to help those in need—whether by offering his services free of charge to those who struggled financially or by pulling over on the road to assist strangers with car troubles.
He lived by what he affectionately called his “four F’s”: Father in Heaven, Family, Football, and Food. Owen’s life was defined by selfless sacrifices made for his family, ensuring that his loved ones had every opportunity to thrive. His legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and unwavering commitment—a legacy that continues in the hearts of all who knew him.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Owen served a two-year mission with honor and conviction, inviting others to learn of the Savior’s love. Though his health challenges affected his church attendance in later years, his testimony never wavered; he remained steadfast in his belief that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. His pride and joy were his children—his heart would light up when speaking of his daughter, currently serving a mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and his beloved son, whose kind heart and promise for the future filled him with hope.
Friends, family, and all who want to support Owen are invited to celebrate his life. A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 16, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Potter Funeral Chapel, 228 E Main St, Emmett, ID 83617. A service will follow on Monday, February 17, at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 8342 W Idaho Blvd, Letha, ID 83636.
Owen’s life was a beacon of love, service, and laughter. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him, inspiring us to be kind, compassionate, and to always put family first.
