Oliver "Gene" Ong

Oliver Eugene “Gene” Ong, 86, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away on October 18, 2023 peacefully at his home. He was the son of John and Bertha Ong.

Gene was born on March 30, 1937 to John and Bertha Ong in Eugene, Oregon. Gene was raised in Nampa with his 11 siblings. Gene loved deeply and was profoundly patriotic. He served in the Airforce and Navy. After his time in the military, Gene became a truck driver. Gene drove trucks for 40+ years before he retired.
 
Gene was preceded in death by his dad, John Ong and his mom, Bertha Ong. He was also preceded in death by his 11 siblings; Plummer, Forest, Lee, Ted, Leota, Leta, Neta, Darlene and youngest brother Ray. 

Gene was married to Sharon Ong. Gene cared for her for several years before her passing in 2005. Gene then met Joan Logan and lived his last 17 years building a love that many only dream of. They nurtured a loving relationship with Joan’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and Sharon’s children and grandchildren.

Gene showed all of his family what true love and adventure is and how to live life it its fullest. The whole he has left in our family will take some time to mend. Gene; you will forever be missed.                                                                                                                                                                                                      

Services for Gene will be on Tuesday November 7th, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery.
