Norman Hardman Obituary

Norman Alan Hardman passed away early on August 28th, 2021 in Boise, Idaho of natural causes. He was born on January 31st, 1953 to Norman and Dixie Hardman. He was the oldest of eleven children.

Alan, as he was known to most, attended school in Emmett where he met Margaret Finch. They graduated in June of 1971 and were married on September 18th of the same year. They would be sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on July 9th, 1983. Alan and Margaret had 9 children together. During their marriage they would live in many places as Alan was a mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. They settled in Emmett, Idaho after his discharge.

He then used the GI Bill to go to Boise State University to study machining. He worked in that field for the majority of his life. He would make parts for airplanes, trains, and even firearms. He was a very skilled machinist. He worked as a long haul truck driver for many years, as well. In his later life, he worked in the mining industry where he drove large hauling trucks. This would take him to Wyoming, North Dakota, and eventually to Winnemucca, Nevada, where he and Margaret lived at the time of his passing.

Alan held a calling as a primary teacher in his ward at church. He and Margaret served the children of their ward in Winnemucca together and loved it very much. He always had candy to share with the kids. The kids loved him as much as he loved them.

Alan loved airplanes, helicopters, cars, music (he taught himself to play the guitar), and his grandchildren. Being a grandpa was his favorite job. Alan loved learning and having discussions with anyone that was willing, especially political discussions. He enjoyed jokes and making people around him laugh.

Alan is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and his son Patrick. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret and his children Stephen Hardman, Jennifer Dixon (Jeremy), Darcy Marsh (Bud), Heather Hardman (Patrick), Angela Gruber (Kevin), Aubrey Hardman, Rhiannon Reiva (Kenneth), Sydny Hardman, and Kaili Hardman. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 1:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Emmett Stake Center, 980 W Central Rd, Emmett, Idaho.
