Nellie Louise Harvill

Nellie Louise Matthews was born in Emmett, Idaho on March 5, 1931.  Her parents were Archibald and Clara Matthews.  Archie was a blacksmith and Clara was a telephone operator in Ola, Idaho.  Nellie had two brothers who preceded her in death, Archie and Samuel Matthews.  Nellie and her brothers were raised in Ola, enjoying the simple country life.   
   Nellie met John Harvill at a school dance when she was 15.  She married the love of her life when she was 16 years old.  John and Nellie spent the majority of their married life in Emmett, Idaho. Nellie was a hard-working individual and worked at the nursing home for many years until she was forced to retire from an injury.  She was highly admired and respected by her coworkers and those around her.  They enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family. They looked forward to attending dances in Ola and spending time with friends. 
   They were married for almost sixty years until John passed away in 2005. John and Nellie had 5 children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  John and Nellie hosted many family functions in their simple farm home, there was always room for one more and more candy than anyone could ever eat!  Nellie always made sure that anyone that visited her home on Christmas left with a gift, even if it was pair of unmatched socks in an old bag!  She had the heart of an angel!
   As Nellie aged, she grew keenly aware of the importance of family.  She cherished the visits, phone calls, and cards with each passing day.  One never left the door of grandmas without a hug, kiss and sweet smile.  
   It is a comfort to know that Nellie is now with those who have gone on before her!  She is holding those who have missed her for so long...to an amazing lady who had the prettiest blue eyes that you could ever imagine...we will see you soon Grandma!

   A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Ola Cemetery, Ola, ID. Services are in the care of the Potter Funeral Chapel, Emmett, ID.
