Mary Joan Irene Sides

   Mary Joan Irene Sides passed away August 22, 2023, in Emmett, ID. She was born June 5, 1938, in Tujunga, CA, to Barbara Irene Wilson and William Otis Pettis. She grew up in Oakland, CA, where her mother married George Evans in about 1955.

   She graduated from Oakland High School and attended UC Davis for 6 months. She married Dale Glenn Fisher on February 16, 1957, in Oakland, CA. They lived at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, Oceanside, CA, where Dale was stationed, until 1960. They then moved to Pleasant Hill, CA, until 1968. Dale worked for his father’s business, Paramount Pest Control. They adopted a son, Keith Andrew, born June 4, 1964; and a daughter, Jennifer Irene, born October 10, 1966. In 1968 they moved to Granada Hills, CA and divorced in 1977.

   Mary went to work at General Motors in 1978, where she met “Jack” Emerson Sides. They married on November 25, 1978. They both retired in 1988, with Mary retiring from Meadow Oaks Private School, where she was a Librarian, and moved to Cascade, ID. In 1990 she began working with Friends of the Library and in 1991 with the Valley County Genealogy Society where she was involved with collecting Long Valley genealogy history. She was also head Librarian of the Cascade Library from 1991-1997. Mary loved church, family, camping, riding motorcycles with Jack, reading, researching, and spending time outside.
