Mary Parks Obituary

Mary Lee Parks of Horseshoe Bend, ID passed away December 13th, 2020 at the age of 89 at St Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho. She was born May 9th, 1931 in Madisonville, Tennessee to Robert and Grace Forrester.

On May 20th, 1950 Mary married the love of her life, Benjamin Parks, in Riceville, Tennessee. Together they had four children, Kyle, Ila, James and Kyleene. In 1964, Mary and Ben moved to Emmett, Idaho to raise their children. In 1973, Mary and Ben adopted two of their granddaughters, LeeAnn and Joni. On December 16th, 1975 Mary lost the love of her life to a heart attack. She never remarried.

She may have only been a mother to six children but became a mother to anyone that needed her. Mary played a hand helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren as any loving mother or grandmother would do. In 1997, Mary moved to Horseshoe Bend, Idaho to live with her daughter, Joni, where she lived until the time of her death.

Mary had many hobbies and talents. Throughout the years she raised amazing gardens which the family enjoyed. Mary enjoyed knitting and crocheting which she taught to her daughters and granddaughters if they wanted to learn. She liked to sew anything from doll clothes to wedding dresses and did a beautiful job in all she made. Mary looked forward to camping and spending time in Donnelly with family. She loved to go to Rockaway Beach, OR to just sit and watch and listen to the waves crashing on the beach.

Her favorite hobby was fishing. She could spend hours sitting on the shore of Cascade Lake or the bank of a river waiting for a fish to bite. The family always teased each other not to out fish her unless you wanted to be on her bad side.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin; her daughter, Ila; both parents, Robert and Grace; 5 brothers, Kyle, Taylor, Norman, John and Vern and 2 sisters, Margaret and Liz.

Mary is survived by her brother, Dale (Linda) Forrester (Emmett, ID.); her children, Kyle Parks (Prineville, Or.), James Parks (Nampa, Id), Kyleene Parks Simpson (Nyssa, Or.), LeeAnn (Paul) Davidson (Chula Vista, Ca.), Joni Parks (Horseshoe Bend, ID.); several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, plus 1 fur grandbaby, Kallie Monster.

A viewing will be held Friday, December 18th from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 pm at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett, Idaho followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmett Cemetery.
