On January 20th, 2025, Mark J Vander Pol, passed away, peacefully, with his loving family by his side. Mark was born on September 22, 1933, in Manson, Iowa to Martin & Margaret (Case) Vander Pol. He joined his older sister, Marylin.
The family moved to Emmett, Idaho in 1938 and never left. Mark attended Emmett schools before joining the Navy in 1952 so he didn't have to milk cows anymore. He enjoyed his time on the ship. He was a Korean War Veteran and received an honorable discharge in 1954.
Mark came home to Emmett and married Veta Jean Christison on June 25, 1955. They had 3 daughters, Vanita Kay, Michele René and Teresa Ann. They later divorced.
Mark met and married Margaret "Maggie" Pattee Waters. Maggie brought into the family, Troy. Mark worked on the family farm for his dad, Bork Motors, then Boise Cascade in the beam and decking plant from 1957 till his retirement in 1996.
Mark and Maggie enjoyed their horses and many Miata Cars. They even joined a Miata club. Mark was an avid wood worker and a master carpenter.
Mark is preceded in death by his wife, Maggie, who passed January 29, 2014. He is also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn (Glenn) Finch; daughter, Vanita; sons-in-law, Gary Coons and Joe Landon. He is survived by his daughters, Michele Coons of Kooskia, Teri Landon of Mackay; stepson, Troy (Suzy) Waters of Star; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Meadow View Memory Care for their excellent care of our Dad for 3 1/2 years as well as Idaho Home Health and Hospice for his last days.
In honor of Mark's wishes, there will be no services. Please donate in his name to the Emmett VFW Post 4900. Arrangements are in the care of the Potter Funeral Chapel of Emmett.
