Maria T. "Resie" Horton

   Maria T. Horton, or Resie to many, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday August 11, 2024, in Emmett, ID, surrounded by family. Resie was born in Lowenberg Germany on the August 19, 1937, to Heinrich and Gertrude Schwanitz. 
   She was working as an RN at a university hospital in late 1959 where she met her husband Wayne, who was in the US Army at the time. They were married shortly after on June 27, 1961, at a Catholic Church and were together for 40 years. Maria worked at the River’s Edge as an RN until retirement. She was active in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emmett, ID. 
   She is survived by her sister, Christina Winters; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Wilson and Carolyn Horton; as well as Sam Gjurich, special friend of Wayne and Resie.
   Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Emmett Cemetery, Emmett, ID.
