In Loving Memory of Margaret Campbell

Margaret Campbell passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, in Emmett, with her family and caretakers by her side. Margaret was deeply loved and the world feels a little quieter without her laughter in it.

She was born on February 11, 1948, in Wendell, Idaho, to Roy and Willabelle Wert Campbell. She was the first of four daughters.

Growing up, the family always had a huge garden and raised many animals - goats, cows, horses, chickens and rabbits.

In the 1980, Margaret’s family moved to a 40-acre ranch in Cascade. She enjoyed swimming during the summers with her sisters and nieces, even though she could only doggy-paddle. Her job was chopping wood, and every year she filled the woodshed in preparation for the long winters.

For over 10 years, Margaret worked at L.I.V.E. Incorporated, a special-needs workshop where she made doormats from old tires and brooms. There was plenty of giggling and laughter with her co-workers, and Margaret had a special fondness for her boss, Wes.

For a short time, she worked at WITCO Corporation in Ontario, Oregon, she was proud of her work there and developed a close relationship with her boss Dot.

When Margaret moved to a group home in Nampa, she was cared for by Leroy and Bonnie Smith. She enjoyed more than 20 wonderful years with them and often told stories about her roommates, Linda, Russell, Doris, and Noreen. Together, they went to rodeos, the circus, motorcycle races, the Boise Fair, and Disneyland. They also enjoyed weekends at the cabin in Cascade, where Margaret and her roommates would walk around town, visit local businesses, and talk with everyone they met.

Every week her sister Barbara would visit, and Margaret would want to call her sister Rose in Georgia. Their conversations lasted only a few sentences before Margaret would say, “Well, I better go,” or “I’m done now.” So uniquely Margaret.    

Margaret faced life with challenges that many others did not, but it never hardened her heart. She remained tenderhearted, loving, joyful and eager to help. She didn’t need a grand occasion to have a good time-Margaret brought the fun with her!

Margaret will be remembered for her sweet nature, her laughter, her kindness, her incredible memory, her mischievous sense of humor, and most of all for the enormous amount of love she gave throughout her life.

  We will always hear her say…. “Well, hello,” “There goes that man again,” or “There’s that lady.”  She loved the Boise State Broncos!  She would ask anyone she ran into if they watched football too. She brought joy to us all and will be sincerely missed by friends, family and the staff at Meadow View Assisted Living who dearly loved Margaret and took great care of her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Roy Campbell, her sister, Bonnie Campbell and special nephew-in-law Joe Kennedy.

 She is survived by her mother, Willabelle Campbell; her sisters, Rose Dant and Barbara Felder; her nieces, Tracey Kennedy, Melissa Wilson, and Jennifer (Ryan) Johnson; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and 8 great-great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to the burial fund. A memorial fund has been established at First Interstate Bank in Emmett, Idaho, under the name Margaret Campbell Memorial Fund.
