MARLENE HALL Obituary

Amy Marlene Carroll Hall, age 86, passed peacefully from this life on May 14, 2018 to her heavenly home to join her husband and loved ones in a sweet reunion.  Marlene always felt it an honor to have been born on her parents’ (Elsie and Rulon Carroll) 6th anniversary on November 24, 1931.  They were a strong influence in her life as they created a home of love and happiness for her and her 7 siblings in Orderville, Utah.  She was also lovingly nurtured by grandparents, aunts and uncles, and the many cousins who were her best friends.  At age 11, Marlene started helping her father in his store and café.   The Carroll family relocated to Emmett, Idaho when Marlene was 13 years old, arriving in Emmett on July 4, 1945.  Her father bought a farm, and they all worked together to make it successful.  Marlene graduated from Emmett High School in 1950.  Being 1st chair in the clarinet section of the band, she was asked to play a clarinet solo for graduation.   She had also played with the pep band at all the games.

Marlene married Theron E. Hall on October 2, 1950 in the Logan Utah Temple.  They settled in Emmett to farm and to raise a family.  They were blessed with 8 children: Marian, Edward, Debra and Denise (twins who lived just 2 days), a stillborn daughter, and then they adopted Mark, Fred, and Ralph.  After the kids left home, they then raised 3 of their young grandchildren.  Marlene spent her entire life in loving service, sacrifice, and dedication to her children, husband, 28 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and anyone else who came through her door.  All felt welcome and loved.

Marlene raised beautiful flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed embroidering and reading.  She was famous among friends and family for her delicious homemade rolls and bread, rootbeer floats and wonderful meals.  She was also known for her neat, concise handwriting.

Marlene was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities in the Relief Society and Primary.  Although quiet and gentle, she had great strength of character found in her obedience to the commandments and in her faith in her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  She faced every trial in her life knowing that she would receive divine assistance to give her strength and guidance to help her through.  She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ with all her heart! Marlene was blessed with the gifts of a grateful heart, kindness, and never speaking ill of anyone, causing her to be loved and admired by everyone.

The last 6 years, Marlene and Theron have lived in an assisted living facility and then at River’s Edge Living Center.  The family appreciates the care and kindness shown to them by staff and residents.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Emmett Stake Center.  Viewing will be Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett and on Saturday one hour prior to Services at the Church.  She will be buried next to her husband in the Emmett Cemetery.  Condolences, memories and photos can be shared at potterchapel.com.
