Lorraine Swindell Obituary

Lorraine Swindell was born on January 16, 1933, to Alfred and Cora Holman in Emmett, Idaho.  She passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022, in Boise, Idaho.

Lorraine was the sixth of 7 children. She graduated from Emmett High in 1951. In early spring of 1952, she met Clifford Swindell and after a whirlwind romance they married on May 18, 1952. They were married for 57 happy years before Cliff went to meet the Lord. They started married life at Fort Ord, CA. Their early years were spent moving around, as Cliff did farming. Their first two children were born in Emmett, ID. Marlene in 1953 and Dottie in 1954. They then moved to the mountains when Cliff started logging. Two more children were born in Cascade, ID. Tina in 1956 and Roy in 1959 before they settled permanently back in Emmett where 3 more children were born Robert in 1960, William in 1962 and Matt in 1965.

They purchased property and Lorraine helped Cliff build the Home she resided in for over 50 years. She was happy being a homemaker, raising her children, canning food and making clothes for her kids. She was very active in her church and ministry for the Lord and was active in the community. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, square dancing, writing short fiction stories and essays about her life’s experiences. She had a unique creative spirit like the sagebrush Christmas tree, making dolls out of pine-knots and the family tree made from a branch that hangs on the living room wall. She enjoyed collecting hats as well throughout the years to build her collection up to 200 hats. So, Ladies don’t forget to wear your bonnets in her honor.

She is survived by her daughter Tina, her sons Roy, Robert and Matt. 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff, her daughter Marlene, her son William, her daughter Dottie and her great-grandson Triston. Also, her parents Alfred and Cora Holman, her brother Al, Willie, Howard and John Holman and her sister Luvina Sprague.

She left a final message for us:

And so, my loved ones, I bid you farewell until we meet again at Jesus’s feet. May God’s peace, comfort and strength be yours throughout the rest of your lives. I love you and yours with all my heart.

LOVE—HUGS---AND KISSES—FOREVER. MOM
