Larry was born on December 16, 1946 to Ken and Helen Meek in Yakima, Washington. During his childhood, the family lived in Washington, Nevada and Nebraska before moving to the Gem County, where he graduated from Emmett High School. In 1966, though offered a full-ride athletic scholarship to Arizona State, he decided to enlist in the United States Marines. After three tours in Vietnam, Larry was honorably discharged and settled in Phoenix Arizona, where he met his future wife, Jeanne Pipcak. Intent on raising a family in a place he called home, they moved back to Emmett, Idaho. Larry and Jeanne had three children; Tammy, Angela, and Samuel. Larry became a floor covering installer and worked throughout the Treasure Valley until he retired in 2001. He was often found chewing on his cigar, watching the drag races at Firebird, scratching lottery tickets, and reading his prized Louis L' Amour books. He was an avid walker and loved to give the neighborhood dogs special treats from his pocket. Larry never met a person who didn't become his friend, and he proved it every day by waving to anyone who passed near as he was walking, and chatting with everyone wherever he went. Larry passed away quietly in the VA Willow Hospice Unit due to pancreatic cancer on Jan. 25, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by parents Ken and Helen; siblings Don, Richard, Sherri, Randy; and granddaughter Dakota. He is survived by children Tammy, Angela, and Samuel; siblings Debra and Patrick; grandchildren Cody, Kaci, and Graeme; and numerous loved family members. A memorial service will be held in Emmett, Idaho at Potter Funeral Chapel on February 7, 2024 at 3:00 PM. Military honors ceremony to follow by the 9-11 monument, Hwy 16, at 4:30 PM. A special note of thanks and appreciation for our Father's care at the VA Willow Hospice. Your love, understanding, and compassion truly helped our family in this time of great sorrow.
