Kim Sorensen Fluckiger, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, of natural causes. Funeral services will be held on February 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1001 East 2nd Street, Emmett, Idaho, with internment following at the Riverside Cemetery in Grand View, Idaho at 2:30 PM. Kim was cremated, but family and friends will receive guests one hour before funeral services begin.
Kim Sorensen Fluckiger was born on July 31, 1948, in St. George, Utah, to Don Burton and Wanda Sorensen Fluckiger. He was the oldest child in the family of six children – three brothers and two sisters. His family moved to the Emmett area when Kim entered grade school. He was a proud graduate of Emmett High School and he often talked about his “glory days” of playing basketball there.
After high school, he attended a couple semesters at Ricks College, then left to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Australia. He loved serving and helping the people there and often talked about the wonderful individuals that he had a pleasure to teach and rub shoulders with. There were several families that he became very close too and kept in contact with years after his mission.
After returning off his mission, he was set up by his sister, Alise, to meet Alice Marie Law, and on August 19, 1972, they were married in Boise, Idaho, and seven children followed. Though they later divorced, they kept in contact through various family events. In April 14, 1995, Kim married Michelle Heuett and they had three children, a few years later they divorced. Kim loved small towns and lived in several communities in Idaho, including Middleton, Grand View, Cascade, Donnelly, and Kendrick.
Kim held different positions in the church, but one of his favorites was ward missionary leader. He loved sharing the gospel and serving others. He was a friend to all and would often be found talking and visiting with strangers, anytime, anywhere. He could spark up a conversation and find out a person’s life in a matter of minutes. Kim will be remembered for working hard, loving and serving others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Kitty Carroll; his daughter, Trisha; and his son Joseph (Joe). He is survived by eight children: Kim (Kevin) Ebersole, Dawn (Brett) Morgan, Darcy (Mike) Young, Tyler Fluckiger, Trevor Fluckiger, Travis Fluckiger, KayLynne Fluckiger, and Ky-Lee Fluckiger. He has 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He has one surviving sister, Alise (Kermit) Zahm; three brothers, Ward (Jean) Fluckiger, Jay (Deloros) Fluckiger, and Todd Fluckiger; and one brother-in-law, Mike Carroll.
