Judy Spence, age 79, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away on April 29, 2026.
She was born on February 2, 1947, to Henry and Carolyn Kusler in Blackfoot Idaho. Judy was a vibrant and spirited woman whose personality naturally drew others to her. She was often described as a “hoot” to be around and brought energy and humor into any room she entered. She never hesitated to share her thoughts and had a natural ease in conversation that made others feel welcome and included.
Judy was exceptionally kind and deeply affectionate and was devoted to her family and held them as her greatest priority, offering help and support without hesitation or expectation of anything in return. She cherished time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, and dear friends. She remained a steady, loving presence in their lives.
Judy had a career as a beautician and owned her own hair salon, The Hair Affair, in Fruitland, where many of her employees and clients became close friends. She was also an exceptional cook and a gifted crafter, spending much of her free time crocheting, embroidering, and painting for others.
Judy will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, gentle nature, and the way she made others feel at ease. Her legacy lives on through the love she gave so freely and the strong presence she leaves within her family.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Carolyn Kusler; older sister, Jean Newport; two infant brothers and an infant sister; first husband Grant Murphy and late husband, Raymond Spence.
She is survived by children, Connie (Tom Helzer) Downs and Tina (Sam) Walker; grandchildren, Danielle (Tyler) Nebeker, Sarah (Chris) Manser, Grant (Cassi) Downs, David (Kasey) Downs, Clyde (Sonya) Downs, 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy Reagan and Debra (Jim) Hollsinger and numerous extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett, Idaho, Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 12:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at the Emmett Cemetery.
