Judy Gibson Obituary

Judy Raedean Gibson went peacefully into the arms of her Lord on March 1, 2023. She was born December 30, 1944, to Raymond and Glorianna Edwards in Twin Falls, Idaho. Being the oldest of three children, Judy developed her natural ability to nurture and care for others. The family later moved to Nampa where she lived until her marriage on June 12, 1964, to Jerry Gibson of Emmett. The young couple began their life together in McCall, Idaho, where Jerry was employed by Acheson Motors. In October of 1967, Jerry and Judy became the proud parents of JoLinda Rene, then eighteen months later Jimmy Ray arrived to complete their family.

The spring of 1968 brought the family to Emmett where Jerry was employed by Boise Cascade. It was after Jerry, the love of her life, was tragically killed in an accident in April of 1977 that Judy began her forty-year career as a daycare provider. Hundreds of Gem County children were blessed by Judy’s strong, but gentle care. Judy will be remembered as a loving, soft-spoken mother who prayed for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren daily. The aroma of tacos and chocolate chip cookies, Judy’s specialty meal, brought family and friends together for many fun get-togethers over the years.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents, Raymond and Glorianna Edwards; her father and mother-in-law, Carl and Lenora Gibson, and infant grandson, Jeran Fridley. Survivors include her children, JoLinda (Shawn) Fridley, Jim (Carolyn) Gibson, grandsons Brennan Fridley, Jordan (Karen) Gibson, Taylor (Cassie) Gibson, and great-grandchildren Jackson, Riley and Blake. Also surviving are her brothers, Ron (Helen) Edwards, Doug (Connie) Edwards and brother-in-law Robert (Gleannea) Gibson.

A viewing will be held Monday, March 6, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 7, at 1:00 pm at the Potter Funeral Chapel. Jonathan Phillips, her pastor at the Community Bible Church, will officiate.
