Joy June Warner, 90, of Garden Valley, Idaho, peacefully passed away on August 30, 2023 at the home of her daughter Kathy in Dufur, Oregon. She was surrounded by her beloved great grand kitten Pierce, her family and caregiver, Jacque, who she loved like family.
Joy was born on November 5, 1932 to Helen and Clyde Wetmore in Oak Run, California. Joy grew up with six siblings in Northern California. She worked as a nanny to get herself through school and eventually earned her CNA degree. She went on to marry James (Jim) Allen Warner on April 3, 1953. They were married for 68 years until his passing in 2021.
In 1960 they moved to Garden Valley, Idaho where they began farming and raised their 3 daughters. Joy worked for many years at Garden Valley School where she was best known by students and staff for homemade maple bars, cookies, and other delicious food. She was also well known for her beautiful garden. Friends and neighbors enjoyed the bountiful fruit and vegetables she shared with them. After retiring from school Joy continued to farm and garden as well as spend time with her daughters and their families. She and Jim made frequent trips to Oregon and Washington to celebrate birthdays and support grandkids at their sporting events and county fairs. Her family was always at the center of everything she did. Joy, better known as “Grandma Joy”, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who lived a very full life. Seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren frequently was the highlight of the last two years of her life.
