Joseph Correia, better known as Joe, passed away at home July 13, 2025. Joe was born to Francisco and Maria Correia on February 25, 1949 in Faial, Azores.
The family immigrated to America when Joe was 10 years old and the family settled in the Tracy, California area where they worked hard and prepared to become American citizens. That was a very important day for them. Joe always wanted people to know how lucky they were to live in such a great country and that they should cherish the freedoms they had.
He loved all things in nature and felt he was should have been born at inception of the Americas, or at least 100 years ago. When younger he was very involved in FFA and excelled at raising champion Jerseys for dairy and show. In his 20's he became interested in hunting and was very proud to present his family with his first Deer. After that he became aware of the use of hounds in hunting and began his love of being a Houndsman. Later in life he left California in search of a state that had better opportunities for Houndsmen to train and hunt with dogs. That was when he discovered Idaho and with his wife Linda, made it his forever home. Joe eventually met others of like mind and helped to start the Idaho Houndsmen Association of which he actively participated in until an injury prevented him from doing so. Joe was also a Life Member of the NRA and strong supporter of the Right to Bare Arms.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, mother, wife Linda and grandson, Alex.
He is survived by his spouse, Donna; daughter, Judy Tolar and family; son, Justin Hartly and family; Elda and Gilbert Medeiros, Maria and Manuel Freitas, Ken and Fatima Correia; nine grandkids; nine great grandkids; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Cobblestone Park in Emmett, Idaho located at E. Black Canyon Highway at 3:00 PM. For Joe's Turlock friends and family, there will be a celebration of life in Turlock, California at a future date.
Joe lived a full life and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
