John West Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John West, who peacefully left this world at the age of 84 on June 5, 2025 after a brief stay at a memory care facility in Ontario, Oregon. Born on November 19, 1940 in Los Angeles, CA., John was a beloved husband, brother, and friend whose legacy of kindness, hard work, and love of people will never be forgotten.
John was deeply devoted to his wife, Carol West, who survives him. They were married Dec. 23, 1961 in Concord, Contra Costa County, CA. He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Nadine Youens West, his stepfather, Wade Clarence West Jr., Carol’s mother Marion Conklin Bronzi, and her father Charles Joseph Bronzi.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1971, John’s faith was central to his life. He knew our Savior Jesus lives and was so grateful for His atonement and His love.
John is survived by his three brothers, Randy (Marcia), Rob (Donna), and Ron (Yin); and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
John had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel valued, and his warm heart and generous spirit were felt by all who knew him. John’s love for people and his genuine interest in the lives of others made him a true friend to many. Whether it was helping with a difficult task, sharing a meal, or sharing a good laugh, John’s presence was a blessing to those around him. His laughter and joy were contagious, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral service to celebrate John’s life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Letha Idaho, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, with a scattering of his ashes at his beloved Halfway, Oregon at a later date. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pet Adoption League [PAL] in Emmett, ID, or the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in John’s memory.
John leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith that will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to have known him. Rest in peace, John—your work here is done, but your impact will remain.
