John Harvey Hill

 John Hill, 76, Emmett, Idaho passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. John was born on December 7, 1945 to Walter and Vera Hill. 

John was born and raised in Emmett where he graduated in 1964.  While in high school, John worked for Ore-Ida.  After school John started working at Boise Cascade as a Certified Lumber Grader and continued for the next 36 years until the lumber mill closed down in 2001.  In addition to his duties at Boise Cascade, he served as President of the local union.  Also, after graduating from high school, John served his country in the Idaho National Guard from 1965-1971 as a Wheel and Track Mechanic.

 John married the love of his life, Gloria Waters, on February 12, 1966 and upon his passing had been married for 56 years.  John loved his family and sacrificed so much to take care of those closest to him.  John was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping.  Every hunting season, you would find John with his lifelong best friend, DeLynn Keller, where they hunted together for 50+ years.  John might be remembered best for his heart to serve others.  Whether it was mowing someone’s lawn, working at his church (First Baptist Church), or lending a hand, you could guarantee John would be there.  On many occasions, you would find him meeting a need for someone less fortunate and not expecting anything in return.

 John is preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Vera; brother’s Archie and Walt Hill and sister, Molly Connor.  John is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughter, Tammy; son, Ron (Marla); grandkids, Medea Polanco (Cesar), Lynnsey Yates (Chayse), Ashleigh Worley (Cale), Dezmond Hill, RayeLynn Hill, Kristin Elam (Andrew), Nick Ford and Jeremiah Ford; great grandchildren, Kaiden and Isabelle, and finally, his best friend and buddy, DeLynn Keller (Faye).

 A viewing will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Chapel.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Potter Funeral Chapel (228 East Main Street, Emmett, Idaho 83617) with burial to follow at the Emmett Cemetery.
