Jo Ann M. Amos, age 80, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024. Jo Ann was born on December 3, 1943, to Melvin and Lucille Hunter. She grew up in Rockland, Idaho, with her three sisters, Annie, Kathy, and Joan, and her four brothers, Vern, Don, Terrell, and Verl.
When Jo Ann was in the eighth grade, her family left the farm in Rockland and moved to a ranch in Ola, Idaho. After moving to Ola, she met the love of her life, Daniel Amos. They were married on October 15, 1960, in Sweet, Idaho, and were married for 63 years. Jo Ann and Danny bought a hundred-acre farm on the bench in Emmett, where they raised their three daughters, Angie, Kim, and Lynn.
Jo Ann devoted her time to creating a loving home and caring for her children, grandchildren, and husband. Jo Ann was a patient teacher, who spent countless hours helping her daughters with their school, 4-H projects, and music lessons, teaching them to sew and bake, and passing on the value of hard work and a job done right. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandkids, who loved having her play games, do crafts, and read with them.
Jo Ann was a very intelligent woman with a love for learning, reading, and music. Although she spent most of her time caring for others, she also took college classes and furthered her learning whenever she had the opportunity. She wrote beautiful poetry and had an amazing record collection that was well-worn from daily listening.
Jo Ann had great love for her brothers and sisters, remaining close with them through all of her years. She enjoyed returning to the ranch in Ola to spend time with her family, and some of her greatest adventures were motorcycle trips she and Danny took with her siblings. She was fortunate to have her twin sister, Joan, as her most beloved and trusted friend for life.
Jo Ann will be remembered as a loving, patient, and intelligent woman who was always concerned about others. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and sister, who dedicated her life to protecting and caring for those she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband and two children, Kathy Sue and Richard.
