Jesus "Jesse" "Chuy" De León López, 68, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023. Jesse was born on July 14, 1954 to Lucio and Rosa De León López in Eagle Pass, Texas.
After graduating from Emmett High School in 1973, he went into the U.S. Navy and then went on to study at Boise State University.
Jesse married Janet Hall and had two children, Brandon and Dustin. Even though he had a family of his own, he took his younger brothers and sisters under his wings and provided as a father figure.
Jesse loved soccer, farming, mechanics, philosophy, telling stories and dad jokes, constantly smiling and laughing, joking whole-heartedly with his siblings and anyone else that would dare enter the conversations, eating, cooking, computers, cars, giving his famous massages, his family, and especially his children and grandchildren.
Jesse loved his family and friends. He would do anything he could for his family, as well as any person in need. He had a passion for teaching English to people so they could help themselves and get better educated. He was educated in Spanish studies and enjoyed having discussions about how to say Spanish words properly, which always made us laugh for some reason. He really enjoyed helping people fix their cars.
Jesse was a good son, brother, friend, man, father, and Abuelito.
He was preceded in death by his father Lucio, brothers, Eduardo Luis, Guillermo, and sister, Rocio.
He is survived by his mother, Rosa; brothers, Saul, Javier, José Luis; sisters, Yolanda and Celina; his children, Brandon (Amy) and Dustin (Christa) and his grandchildren Kyla, Devin, Addison, Ashtyn, Camryn, Emma, and Brayden as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jesse's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Chapel. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at the Emmett Cemetery.
