Jerry Hines was born Jerome Stanley Hines in Chicago, IL on November 27, 1938, to Theodore and Betty Hines. He had a brother, Kenneth, who preceded him in death. Jerry has one daughter, Kathy Brady, by his first marriage, and two granddaughters, Abigail and Emma, all of whom live in North Carolina. He married his wife, Merrily, on February 10, 1979, and gained a stepson, Michael Reeder. He has two grandkids through Michael, Rachel and Will.
Many people in the Valley knew Jerry through his working at the Trading Post for several years. He was always the helpful guy and never missed an opportunity to make folks laugh. Many knew him by his cowboy hat, an affectation that he loved.
Jerry and Merrily were members of Crouch Community Church for the last 20 years. He grew in his love for and knowledge of Jesus through those years. Jer went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 27th after a brief but tough battle with cancer. He left a legacy of love and humor to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed. There will be a Celebration of Jerry's life at Crouch Community Church on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
