Jeanne E. Duncan, 73, was born October 13, 1953, in Albion, Nebraska, to Harold D. Duncan and Josephine H. Duncan. She was the fourth of five children and the only girl. Jeanne went home to Jesus on April 17, 2026.
When she was 2 years old, the family moved to San Diego, California, where her oldest brother, Doug, was stationed in the Navy. They lived there for about three years, then moved to Nampa, Idaho, to be closer to her dad’s parents. Jeanne attended school in Nampa. The family later moved to Garden Valley, Idaho, where she enjoyed her pony, and then to Emmett, Idaho, where Jeanne completed school and graduated in 1973.
After graduation, Jeanne moved to Florida and worked in the orange groves for about eight years. Her dad made homemade fudge and sent it to her for Christmas. In 1994, her older brother Don, a long-haul truck driver, went to Florida to pick up a half load of oranges. He filled the rest of his truck with her belongings and moved Jeanne back home. Her dad was in a nursing home, so she moved into his mobile home. Her dad died one year later. Jeanne had a dog named Dosha, whom she loved very much. When Dosha died, someone gave her another dog, Lucy. Jeanne loved her dogs like they were her children.
Jeanne worked for her brother Darrell mowing lawns for the mobile home park for several years. She then earned her CNA certificate and worked as an in-home caregiver, as well as at River’s Edge, until she became disabled.
For the last 16 years, Jeanne was a charter member of Heritage Christian Church, where she found an extended family who loved her and supported her. She called several people every day and read Scripture to them. Life was not always easy, but Jeanne was grateful for her brother Darrell, who called 2–3 times a day to say, “Hi, I love you!”
When Jeanne was told her kidneys were failing, she looked to Jesus. She knew the many difficulties of life, and she would often say to others—her caregivers in her home, the medical transport teams, and her beloved church family—“Just give it to Jesus!”
In late February, Jeanne fell at home, and it became evident that she could no longer stay at home alone. She moved into River’s Edge and confidently told everyone there—staff and visitors—“I love Jesus!”
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Josephine and her brothers, Doug and Don. She is survived by her brothers, Darrell and Darwin; her niece, Michelle Duncan Luna of Irrigon, Oregon; and other nieces and nephews.
Thank you to Harrison’s Hope Hospice for their care of Jeanne during the last year.
A special thank you to the many caregivers who not only worked in her home, but who became like family to her; to Al and Val Cinnamon, who were very special to her; to Deana Wise, who gave so much love to Jeanne; and to her loving “family” at Heritage Christian Church.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the Emmett Cemetery.
