Jay Biggers Obituary

Jay Biggers was born November 1, 1940 to Elburn and Arleen Biggers.  Later, two more children were born, Butch and Jim.  This made the family complete.  Jay passed away on April 12, 2024 at Ashley Manor in Payette, Idaho.
Jay grew up on a ranch in upper Brownlee.  He attended a one-room school for his first eight grades.  No bus was available, so he rode a horse to school about 1 1/2 miles.  He attended and graduated from Emmett High School.
One year, Jay sold packages of flower and garden seeds.  He purchased a bicycle with the money he earned and rode the bicycle to school with weather permitting.
Living on the ranch, there was always chores to be done, and Jay did his share.  He learned good work ethics and was skilled in operating equipment.
With his knowledge of cattle, Jay went to work for Gem Island Feedlot.  Later he worked for Vern Osborn driving milk truck and loading heavy cans of milk.
Jay entered the world of logging - from loader operator to truck driver.  He worked for many local logging contractors though the years ending his career working for Neal Canaday.  Jay was a dedicated, hard worker who worked long hours.
He was very skilled at operating a loader.  Later he began driving and operating a self- loader log truck, and then driving just a log truck until he retired in 2017.
When Jay wasn't on a job, he spent much of his time helping his brother Butch on the ranch.  It didn't make any difference what needed to be done or what the weather was like, he was always ready to help.
Jay married Linda Brooks, and they brought two children into this marriage.  First came a son Monte, and later a daughter Jodi.
Mike became the second son after Jay and Sandy Suitter were married.  She had two children prior to Mike - Cindy and Chuck.  Jay helped raise Sandy's children.
Jay found pleasure in spending time with family and friends, fishing, and camping along with some deer and elk hunting.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Elburn and Arleen Biggers and a brother, Jim Biggers. Survivors include his children, Monte (Heather), Jodi Al Attia, Mike (Jenny), step kids Cindy and Chuck (Becky); a brother Butch (Joyce); lots of grandkids and great grandkids; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Brownlee Cemetery in Brownlee, Idaho.  Please bring your own lawn chair.  The elementary school that Jay attended was located adjacent to the Cemetery.
