Jim passed away June 5, 2024, in Meridian, ID, after suffering a massive stroke. Born in Benkelman, NE, his family later moved to Emmett, ID, where he spent his formulative years.
A bit of a hell-raiser, where it is said there may have been minimal supervision, he joined the Navy at a young age and was stationed as an aircraft mechanic in Corpus Christi, TX. He returned to Emmett after his stint was up and met his wife, Dixie (Lee Howell). His daughter, Randi, was born of this union and they began a life in Emmett.
Jim became involved within the community while employed by Boise Cascade, from a volunteer firefighter to a county commissioner. He was also a member of various community organizations such as the Elks and Lions Club. Jim would retire from Boise Cascade as a sawmill supervisor. He then became involved with volunteering in organizations in Boise such as the Morrison Center and Idaho Steelheads.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dixie, and his older sister Arlene.
He is survived by his daughter Randi (Pete), his grandchildren Lauryn & Joshua, brother Alfred Stroud, sister, Dot Christison, and 5 great grandchildren, and many loving extended family members. Golf was his
passion, so he’s now playing the perfect course above, then having a cold one at the 19th hole.
Rest in Peace Dad.
