James Lee Roberts passed away on September 17, 2021, Jim was born on June 8, 1946 to Homer and Gladys (Stiles) Roberts in Emmett Idaho. He was joined by two sisters Sondra and Brenda. Larry Kincaid joined the family as their brother. Jim was active in all sports being a letterman at Emmett High School in basketball, football and baseball. He maintained a close relationship with his coach Mr. V (Tony Villanueva) throughout his life.
Jim went to college at University of Idaho and graduated from Boise State University. He taught at Bruneau, Mtn. Home, Owyhee and Jackpot. Jim married Linda Thiellen and was blessed with a daughter, Kelli. They were later divorced but Kelli lived most of her life with Jim. Jim met Billie Sweeney while teaching and coaching in Owyhee and they married in 1979. Jim became the dad to two very special kids, Allison Sweeney and Sean Sweeney. Jim was very active in coaching football, basketball and track. Jim was active in Ducks Unlimited in Jackpot, Boise State Alumni Assoc. and Emmett High School Class of 1964. Jim loved hunting, fishing and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. He enjoyed going to the coast with special friends Ivan Fry and Terry Eiguren many times.
Jim retired in 2003 and moved to Smiths Ferry where he and Billie had their retirement home. He loved his Lord and was baptized in the Payette River. He attended Chapel in the Pines. Due to health issues Jim moved to assisted living. Family was always so important to Jim and the light of his life was when he became “Poppy” to his grandchildren Matt Jr., Kaiya, Hailey, John and Katelyn.
Jim is survived by his children Kelli (Matt Boles) Roberts, Allison (Dean) Brookins and Sean Sweeney. His grandchildren Matt Jr and Kaiya Boles, Hailey and John Brookins and Katelyn Sweeney. His sisters Sondra Ingram, Brenda (JoDee) Martin, brother Larry (Melanie) Kincaid, Uncles Sherrill (Linda) Stiles and Arlie (Clella) Stiles will miss him. He has numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Portia and Kristin for taking such excellent care of our loved one.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Emmett High School Athletic Dept. in his memory. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
