It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Longest, a beloved son, brother, and friend. He departed peacefully in his sleep on April 1, 2024 at the age of 57.
Jim was born to Ben and Jewell Longest on June 30, 1966. He was raised in Boise, where he spent his formative years exploring the great outdoors by hunting and fishing with his dad and other family members. Jim, who enjoyed riding both bicycles and motorbikes, was always ready to embark on a new adventure or share a joke with those around him.
After graduating from Capital High School in 1985, Jim pursued a career in floor covering with his parents at their floor installation business. He took great pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed being with his family and friends, tending to his cats and cheering on the Boise State Broncos. He was a talented artist in stained glass glazing, painting, sketching and woodworking.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, Ben Longest, and survived by his mother, Jewell Longest; two sisters, Vicki (Jim) Wigle of Boise and Kathy (Ron) Reasoner of Vancouver, Washington; along with dear friends the Eckenroeds and the Borchers; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a love for life that will be cherished forever. May Jim rest in peace, knowing that he was loved and adored by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services will be held at Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett, Idaho on Monday, April 8, 2024 with the viewing at 12:00 PM and the service at 1:00 PM.
