James E. Ford, 81, from Emmett, Idaho passed away on December 13, 2024. He was born to Roy and Mary Ford on April 16, 1943 in Boise, Idaho. Roy and Mary moved to Alturas, California a few years after his birth where Roy work at the Canby Lumber Mill. Jim was raised in Alturas with his siblings. Jim was an exemplary at sports. He played both football and basketball. He earned a chance to go to Shasta College for basketball but never went.
Jim owned his own logging business for years before he moved to back to Alturas, CA near his parents. Jim and Barbara met in 1980 and married in 1981. They had a son, Andrew. Jim had three children from a previous marriage who lived in Idaho who he had during summers. They moved to Idaho in 1998 to be near Jim's older children as their families were growing. He continued to work until his retirement in 2005.
Jim began to trap for beaver, mink, muskrat as a hobby, including raising beef steers for family and friends. He was a voracious reader, loved to hunt with his dad, sons and friends, fish the rivers and lakes of Northern California and Idaho with his dad, sons and grandkids. He loved camping playing hug a tree with the kids and grandkids. He was a jokester and an ornery streak but had a special place in his heart for those who loved to give it back. He was a picker eater, loved his snickerdoodles that his daughter Wendy made often for him. He was loved by his family dearly.
Jim is preceded in death by father, Roy and mother, Mary; brothers, Kenny and David. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara of 43 years; sons, Andrew (Jessica), Gary (Lori); daughters, Wendy (Todd) and Holly (Craig); brother, John (Charlotte) and their children John Jr. (Katina), Tiffany and their children; sister, Barbara Aristo (Don) and their children Brandon and Jordan and their children. Jim has 14 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way.
Graveside services for Jim will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2024 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. Services are in the care of the Potter Funeral Chapel of Emmett.
