James (Jim) Allen Warner, 89, of Garden Valley, Idaho passed away on June 4th, 2021 peacefully in his home surrounded by family and caregivers.
Jim was born in Lynwood, CA to Arlene and Ben Warner on June 30, 1931. He was involved in Boy Scouts and was awarded the Eagle Scout Medal. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and served in the Marines for three years. He joined before graduating high school in 1949. He was deployed to Korea for two years during which he received a purple heart. After returning home, he married Joy Wetmore on April 3, 1953 in Oak Run, CA. He worked as the transportation superintendent as well as driving bus for Shasta County Schools.
In 1960, they moved to Garden Valley, Idaho where he began farming and became a part of the community by serving on the school board and as a Scout Master. He worked for the Forest Service as a Fire Control Officer for more than 30 years. After retiring, Jim worked at the lumber yard in Crouch for many years making wooden furniture and yard ornaments. In his retirement Jim also enjoyed traveling frequently to Oregon and Washington to visit his grandchildren and cheer them on in their extracurricular activities. Jim was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who lived a full life.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and two daughters: Mary Elizabeth and Barbara.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joy; daughters, Kathy Durham (Bob) and Deb Warner-Marbach (Mike); 3 grandchildren, Brian (Elena), Sarah and Mikalah and 2 great-grandchildren, Bailey and Wyatt.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at the Pioneer Cemetery in Horseshoe Bend with Reverend Darrin Dodd of Bible Missionary Church officiating. Please bring your own chair. Following the service there will be a potluck lunch at Jim and Joys home. Viewing will be available the night prior, June 29th, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Potter Funeral Chapel
