Herta A. Schiggel, 86, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2022. She was born on April 29th, 1936, in Kowno, Lithuania as the daughter to Leopold Philipp and Irma Bitzer.
Herta completed her Nursing degree in Germany and worked as a CNA at the Emmett convalescent center retiring in 1991. She was kind-hearted and loved to spend time with family and friends. She loved cooking old-world German specialties, baking her secret streusel with fruit from the Emmett Valley, and gardening fresh tomatoes. She was an avid flower gardener as well, nurturing her roses and edelweiss into beautiful bouquets.
Herta was predeceased by the love-of her life, Heinz Schiggel of Heinz Electric in 2012. Her beloved sister, Helga (Dieter) Neu survives her. She is also survived by her sons, Edwin (Beth) and David (Samantha) Weich; 11 grandchildren (Michael, Michelle, Melinda, Jerame, Shae, Lauren, Trent, Tyler, Connor, Alex, and Maddie); 13 great-grandchildren (Peyton, Aiden, Emmalyn, Ruby, Gracelynn, Sunday, Grayson, Stephanie, Everett, Ensley, Remy, Wesley, and Olivia) and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren (Xavier, Marley, Hendrix, and Lovelynn).
There will be a viewing on September 8, 2022 between 5-7 pm at the Potter Funeral Chapel of Emmett. To honor Herta, a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Chapel followed by burial at the Emmett Cemetery.
