Herbert "Bert Shaul Obituary

Herbert Thomas Shaul passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025 with his family by his side.

Herbert "Bert" Shaul was born 16 October 1940 and was raised in California. At age 17, Bert enlisted in the Marine Corp and served 4 years at Camp Pendleton. In 1986, while living in Idaho, Bert moved his parents to Idaho and built their retirement home.

Bert worked as a self-employed carpenter, and he could build a house from the foundation up. Bert made many friends throughout his life, and he had a great reputation. In 1990, Bert met Bonnie Attebery while working on her home. The two started dating and fell in love, and they were married in 1991. Bert not only gained a wife but also 4 great kids. Bert and Bonnie would have been married 34 years on June 1. Bert said, "I have lived a wonderful life, I have a beautiful wife and a great dog - what more could I want?"

Bert is survived by his wife, Bonnie Shaul; children, Stacey (Tim) Perkins, Kelly (Mark) Watson, Brian (Sandi) Attebery; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister Sandy Campbell; brother Brian Volkman; and many nieces and nephews. Bert was preceded in death by daughter, Jean Attebery; parents Frank (Florence) Shaul, Sybil (Bob) Volkman; brother Bud Shaul; and many friends.

Bert was an incredible influence in all of our lives. We will forever remember his Bert-isms that will stick with us and continue to make us laugh, his amazing sourdough cooking legacy, and the life lessons he taught us. Until we meet again, Bert, we raise a beer in your honor. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM at Bert and Bonnie's home located at 511 W. Idaho BLVD in Emmett.
