Gloria Bird, 73, passed away in her home, surrounded by love. She was born on April 2, 1952, in Fabens, Texas, to Ricardo Rubio Morales Sr. and Julia Ochoa Morales.
Gloria grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and spent most of her childhood summers in Mexico with her beloved grandmother, Consuelo Morales, until age 15. In 1963, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she later graduated from Clark High School. In 1984, she married the love of her life, Michael Robert Bird, and she moved to Tonopah, Nevada, where she made her home for 30 years. Gloria worked for Chemetal Mining Corporation for 20 years and for the State of Nevada for 5 years before retiring in 2016. She spent the past 8 years enjoying life in Idaho full time.
Gloria loved fishing, the outdoors, traveling, shopping, and visiting with friends. She cherished time with her grandchildren, and found joy in bible studies, berry picking, baking, cooking, sewing, and even cleaning. She will be remembered most for her loving spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love for the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her two children, Nickolas Roman Bird and Robert Joseph Bird; her brothers Arturo Morales, Roberto Morales, and Ricardo Morales Jr.; and her father, Ricardo Morales Sr.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Mike Bird; her children, Michael Bird and Shannon Wickenden; her mother, Julia Ochoa Haddad; her siblings, Rachel Breen, Olga Cantania, David Morales, Ben Morales, and Johnny Morales; and her grandchildren, Natalie Ray, Cole, Cylas, Emilia, Brock Wickenden, Blake, Presley, and Oakley Bird—and her beloved dog, Tasha.
