Gary Samson Obituary

Gary Watson Samson, of Emmett, Idaho passed away on January 26th, 2023. He was born May 13th, 1941 to Ralph and Maryon Samson in Spokane, Washington. He was the oldest of four boys including Roger, Keith and Larry.
Gary was raised in Mountain Home and Marsing, Idaho and graduated from Marsing High School in 1959. He met his wife, Sharon, while living and working at her uncle’s farm. She was two years older than him and thought he was annoying, but eventually feelings changed, so their first date was to a
4-H club meeting and then it was love ever after and they married on September 11, 1959. They shared almost 41 years together before her passing in 2000.
His many adventures in life led him to being a farmer, a lead helicopter mechanic for Weyerhaeuser Aviation in Chehalis, Washington, a dairy farmer, a truck driver, a ditch rider and most importantly being the very best Grandpa he could be. He loved teaching lessons to his grandkids; especially to look up at every plane or helicopter in the sky and supporting them by going to their 4-H and sporting events. He was an unabashed American and a lover of his Second Amendment rights.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon; grandson, Trevor Steven Sloan; brothers, Roger and Larry; brother-in-law, Bob Malmberg; nephew, Tony Malmberg and sister-in-law, Sandi Samson.
He is survived by his children, Tammy (Jim) Sullivan, Tracy (Greg) Howard, Steven Samson and Stephanie (John) Johnson; brother, Keith; in-laws, Gary (Patty), Jake (DeAnne), Judy Malmberg and Tracy Painter; grandchildren, Maggie (Harrison) Geer, John Howard, Paige (Cody) Killeen, Hayden, Hannah, Grady Samson and Jeremiah Johnson; great grandchildren, Samuel and Maelie Jo Geer, Atlas Zuchelkowski and many nieces and nephews.
